7 TIPS FOR A FUN AND SUCCESSFUL WINTER OR EASTER HOLIDAY IN THE ISLANDS/SEA MOUNTAINS

The cold, fine weather is here and it’s time to spend it with your family! Bring your winter or Easter vacation to Nermo Hotel and discover a skiing paradise, fun activities for the whole family or pamper yourself in a delightful hotel room in historic surroundings or choose a state-of-the-art apartment with plenty of space for the whole gang. Here are our local tips and experiences to get you energized for spring!

  1. For those who like speed and excitement:
Hafjell Alpinsenter is the snow-sure family favorite that facilitates good
skiing experiences – from beginner to expert. Just 15 minutes’ drive north of Lillehammer (and 3 minutes from Nermo Hotel) is one of Norway’s largest and most versatile ski resorts. When there’s enough natural snow, we prep the ski trail that gives you “ski-in/ski-out” from Nermo Hotel, otherwise there’s a shuttle bus every morning and every afternoon. 2. For those who like to go at their own pace:
There are fantastic opportunities for cross-country skiing in Øyerfjellet – here you can enjoy 600 km of
of cross-country trails in a network connected to Sjusjøen, Nordseter, Lillehammer,
Fåvang and Ringebufjellet and more. Liesetra is a perfect starting point for the trip, or you can
or you can take the gondola up to this crazy network of cross-country trails. From Nermo Hotel it is
it’s about 5km up to Liesetra, or slide down to the gondola or shuttle bus that runs every morning. See which trails are groomed here:

  3. Vintertrollnatt:
Join us for an adventurous evening of song, theater and beautiful ice art. Hunderfossen opens
the doors for entertainment and adventure theater outdoors in beautiful surroundings. Bring the kids and join
Witch Festival in Trollskogen, listen to the Princess’s song in Slottshagen, and immerse yourselves in the drama
when King Valemon the White Bear meets the Princess at Kongsgården. Read more here:

  4. Stay at a historic hotel:
Nermo Hotell is a family-run hotel in Øyer, and neighbor to Hafjell and Lillehammer. We have 31
rooms, 2 “Drengestuer” and 53 apartments and distinguish ourselves by personal service, unique rooms and
food made from scratch. Nermo Hotel is part of “De Historiske Hotell & Spisesteder”. Read

  5. Focus on your family and choose a self-catering apartment:
Choose between a 4-bed or 6-bed apartment in the courtyard of Nermo Hotel, or stay in a modern 8-
bed apartment at Nermo Tunet 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Self-catering with all the equipment you need to enjoy a good home-cooked meal. Read more here: https://nermohotell.no/leiligheter/ Book here >>

  6. Day trip to the Olympic town of Lillehammer:
Since the Olympic flame was extinguished in 1994, the town and the area have developed into a huge
range of cultural and sporting events. With everything from nature to Olympic facilities as the venue,
you can either sit back and relax, or get involved yourself. Lillehammer can offer so much more than
Olympic nostalgia, read more here: https://www.lillehammer.com/

  7. Find your own “strawberry place”:
Øyer/Hafjell contains so much more than what the tourist guides can describe. The best
tips come from those of us who live and work here. At Nermo Hotel, we have been committed to good
for almost 150 years and we know the area, we know the best toboggan runs, the best viewpoints
viewpoints, the best “selfie spots” and the best cross-country ski trails. We know the stories and we’re bad at keeping secrets, so ask us at reception and we’ll help you find your own “strawberry spot”.
