Aulestad – Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson
Like Sigrid Undset’s home, Bjerkebæk, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s home is located about 30 minutes from Nermo Hotel. Both homes are open to visitors.
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s home
Aulestad in Gausdal was Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s home for more than thirty years. The Nobel Prize–winning author lived, wrote, and received guests here from 1875 until his death in 1910. The house remains almost untouched, with furniture, books, and personal belongings still in place. The garden alone is worth the visit, with views over Gausdal and the surrounding mountains.
Same ticket as for Maihaugen and Bjerkebæk.
The museum is part of the Lillehammer Museum Foundation, and a combined ticket with Maihaugen gives you a discount.
