Storgata in Lillehammer
Storgata is among the most photographed streets in Norway. The 19th-century wooden houses, cobblestone streets, and small shops give the town centre a character few Norwegian towns can match. Here you will find everything from local grocery stores and antique shops to clothing boutiques and galleries.
Lillehammer Art Museum
Lillehammer Art Museum is located in a building designed by Snøhetta and features both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.
Lillehammer Cinema
Lillehammer Cinema, Norway’s oldest cinema still in operation, is housed in a beautiful Art Nouveau building from 1921.
Festivals and events in Lillehammer
Throughout the year, Lillehammer hosts events that attract visitors from far beyond the region: the Norwegian Literature Festival in summer, DølaJazz in autumn, Lillehammer Live concerts at Håkons Hall, and of course the Birkebeiner Ski Race in March, starting in Rena and finishing in Lillehammer, where thousands of skiers follow in the footsteps of the Birkebeiners.
Hafjell Bike Park (5 minutes from Nermo Hotel, summer)
When the snow melts and the trails dry up, cyclists take over Hafjell Bike Park. It is Norway’s leading lift-accessed mountain bike park, with 15 trails covering 28 kilometres – from gentle green routes for beginners to black runs that challenge even experienced riders.
The gondola takes both you and your bike to the top. Bike and protective gear rental is available on site, and guided tours are offered for those who want a calmer introduction to mountain biking.
