Winter weddings at Nermo

Many people imagine summer and sunshine when planning their wedding. But there is something very special about a winter wedding

The whole area covered in snow. Torchlight flickering along the path across the yard. The bride and groom coming in from the cold while the warmth spreads over their shoulders like a blanket.

Three excellent reasons to choose winter weddings

1. Get exactly the weekend you want

The first reason is practical: it's easier to get the weekend you want. The most popular summer weekends at Nermo are often booked a year in advance. In winter, you have more dates to choose from and a better opportunity to have the entire hotel to yourself.

2. Winter weddings in a winter wonderland

The second is the atmosphere: The snow does a job that no florist can match. The storehouses with white roofs. Tuned in twilight. The smoke from the fireplaces rising against the clear winter sky. While the guests stay together instead of spreading out separately

3. The winter menu of restaurant Nermostuene

The third is the food: the kitchen at restaurant Nermostuene builds menus around the season's best ingredients. Moose fillet from this autumn hunt. Root vegetables from neighbouring farms. Mushrooms that were picked in September and dried according to all the rules of the art. Rich sauces that are perfect for cold evenings.

This will be a real feast, and many brides and grooms discover that this is exactly the kind of food they prefer to serve.

Nermo dressed in white

In winter, the farmyard changes character. The main building from 1932 is lit up against the dark sky. The storehouses look like they've been standing here forever, heavy with snow, while only the warm light from the windows reveals that someone is staying inside.

There is a silence over Nermo in winter that gives your wedding day a special calm. No lawn mowers in the background. No other guests on the terrace. Just the happy couple, the wedding party and the sound of snow under their shoes on the way between the wedding ceremony and the reception.

How it works in practice

The wedding ceremony is often held at our restaurant Nermostuene. The fireplace is glowing, there are candles in the windows, and the guests are gathered in the large hall. For those who want a touch of outdoor atmosphere, short ceremonies can be conducted outside in the yard with warm blankets and torchlight.

An aperitif is served by the fireplace. Dinner is served in Nermostuene or in the Great Hall at Låven, depending on the size of the party. Either way, the party can continue at Låven throughout the evening, with a large dance floor and supper from the kitchen.

The bride and groom retire to the storehouse suite, complete with a gas fireplace, bathtub and a still quiet that only winter can provide. Guests take the stairs up to the main building a few metres away. And the next morning, everyone gathers around the breakfast table, perhaps a little later than planned, while the snow continues to fall outside the windows.

The day after the wedding

One of the advantages of winter weddings at Nermo is that the guests are happy to stay the whole weekend. Thus, you can gather for brunch, and everyone who wants to can enjoy a day in Hafjell. The alpine centre is just a few minutes' drive away, and the cross-country trails start right outside the hotel. For those who prefer something quieter, one can simply relax in the fireplace lounge with a good book and a hot cup of coffee.

Either way, your wedding will have an ending that feels just as nice as the reception itself.
